I think there a plenty like me. People who do one thing, but like coding, and hope to make it a bigger part of their life. On a personal level or professionally.
For me it’s a hope to make it a part of my career. After many years of education, and quite a few changes down the line, i’ve for the first time found something, that i can’t get away from when working on it because of sheer interest, and at the same time something i can do for a living. It’s the best mix of a hobby and something i can actually use helping others.
So, this is both a place for me to grow, a place for me to keep focus on my goals and at the same time share it with others, hoping it will inspire others and create some kind of network around me for support in this persuit of changing my career path.
I will publish a mix of “notes to self”: technical notes on different programming subjects, as a reference for myself to look up. I will try to make it graphical for easy catch up and hopefully a quick way for others to grasp more or less tricky subjects. Furthermore i will publish “notes on the journey”: Insights into my attempts to change career. This will be reflections on my development, what i find difficult and what i’ve done in order to overcome these challenges. One of the challenges doing this – especially without writing these things down – is forgetting how much i’ve developed over the years. There a plenty of times where it can feel overwhelming, and feeling the development going no-where is definatly not going to help. Besides this, i will try to make it a place for me to “log” my development time. Just for myself in order to track my dedication and see that i am going through a proces, and maybe as a way of showing coming employees that i really wanted to do this, and learned a lot over time.
I hope you will find some of this inspirational and a ressource for those who’s on the same path as me. If so, don’t hesitate to reach out.
