Weekly log @ 45/2022

After some time working my way through Codecademys back-end career path, i’ve decided to take a break in order to start building a portfolio of applications.

This week I’ve been working on my first sprint for the first application: A budget application for structuring my private economy. After this, I’m planning to do an expense tracker and lastly a calender/todo app. Together I want to be able to budget my income/expenses, track my expenses and be able to plan my spending ahead of time so it can be related to stuff I’m doing in the future.

As mentioned, I’ve spent the last week doing my first sprint. In this sprint I did ERD-diagrams and model of the database tables in PostgreSQL, user stories and wireframing, first in pen and paper to test some ideas and afterwards in Figma refining the design i liked the most.

Designing user interfaces is still a quite new thing for me, so I try to get inspiration from websites I like. At the same time I try to challenge these often used designelements and i.e. let the design be inspired by old computergames, newspapers design or something entirely different.
